Benicio del காளை
One of the charms of Indian politics is in observing the string of dead people one is allowed to invoke in posters and campaigns. I remember watching on TV a chap who put up posters for Velupillai Prabhakaran's birthday (fateful day that was). Interestingly enough, that birthday boy poster had pictures of EVR Periyar and Ambedkar in it!! I suppose anything goes in Tamil Nadu.
A few days later I happened to be in southern AP (colloquially, an extension of northern Madras) and not to be outdone, Chiranjeevi had inducted Mother Teresa into his pantheon of duotone thumbnail mugs.
But recently, what had me cracking up was this:

TN and AP, though are not leftist states do exploit the rhetoric in politics and movies. One of Chiranjeevi's blockbuster movies was titled Stalin! And of course, what kind of a parent would name his son Stalin! I am not surprised at all at CHE's induction. It was pretty shrewd on his part I must admit. CHE appeals to the urban youth as well. I have a CHE t-shirt! Ok, I am not exactly youth...

What the fuck does Mayavati and her party have to do with Periyar? Does she even know who Periyar was?

ravages ji, Mayawati planned to install a statue of Periyar in lucknow in 2002, but was forced to abandon the plan due to pressure from her then electoral partners BJP.
Anand - we use only Sivaji Ganesan's face for Kattabomman, so this is ok I guess.

Let's see this as glass half full - maybe he is a fan of benicio del toro and not a blind follower of che. I know, that is stretching it. The alternative is very depressing to contemplate. Your avatar photo is awesome(cho guevara as someone else called it in the comments - cho guevara, even the name is awesome).
