Show business
The media world is all about storytelling and showmanship. In fact, any media text and any media person would reflect this. In that sense, journalism, being a part of the same world, inherits these properties. The only journalism-specific trait is that no single storyteller can claim authorship for the news diegesis. Even a scoop happens only by cunning and not by default. This brings us to a familiar question about the single distinguishing factor about journalism. It is only this question of authorship and not much else. Here we have significantly left out any talk about reality and happening and fact being the sole distinguishing factor.
